Can't Believe it!

I walked into Kohl’s today which is one of my favorite stores to shop in. I needed to pick up a few things before my trip to Houston.

I was on my way to get socks when I saw something that made me laugh so hard, I couldn’t hold it in. So, there I was busting up laughing to myself in the middle of the isle.

I live in Florida, right? I would expect to see this shit in Colorado, but Florida? Really?
They had snowgear! Can you believe that? What the hell do you need mittens, hats and scarves in Florida?

I can see if you are going on vacation somewhere cold, but hell, they sell that shit there!
Now you can see why I was so amused!!

I Broke The Truck….For Real This Time :(

Took the L out last night to a meet since its been forever that I’ve actually gone to a meet (since June at least)

Took TheFriend with me since its been forever since he’s been to a meet too. Took the L out to meet Maro (Mark with a Camaro) cool guy, always a good time when he is around. So I hit the gas pretty hard while getting on the on ramp, the truck is just SCREAMING getting into boost. Just as the lanes merge there is a Mustang to my left, they pull off to the side and stop. I have to admit, I might do the same, the L sounds sofa king mean! You’ll know its comin from a few miles away!

We get to the meet, I pull in and see another Silver L, I told TheFriend “I’ve got to know that truck, there aren’t many L’s around the area who aren’t on Lightning Rodder” I couldn’t place the truck since it was a little farther away. I pull next to Maro’s car, turn off the beast, open the door, and as I put one foot on the ground I hear a guy running over and saying “Queen Bee, Queen Bee, I knew it was you, so this is the beast huh?” I was shocked, I haven’t been to a meet in months I pull in and someone already knows who I am! Haha! It was EatinLightning (Alex) from LR, We bullshitted a bit about the L and he asked me to pop the hood, I did, and that second that I lifted the hood everyone rushed over with “ooooooh’s and Ahhhhh’s” it was straight out of some part of a race movie. Cool though, so we head over to his truck to check it out, he pops the hood, I said “Aww how cute, little Eaton” jokingly of course, he said “it is cute compared to yours” haha.

Very cool guy, talked to a few more fbody guys and whoever else was around. Nice to know EatinLightning lives closer than the other guys so when I wanna do a Silver Shoot or something he’s right there.

We bullshitted for a while and then TheFriend, Maro, and I decided to get some food at Applebee’s. I pulled on the L pretty hard and it kicked into boost with a quickness (will be quicker once I am tuned woo) got there parked and headed inside for some food and drinks.
Came out, started the truck and heard a “Hisssssssssss” I couldn’t figure out what it was, truck died, started it up, died, repeat, got it running, got fuel in her. I can hear the hisssssssssssss some more, coming through the cab and realize I am not building any boost, or have any vacuum for that matter. AH! I broke it, I broke the truck once I got on it, GOD DAMNIT!

I limp it all the way home on just the motor, keeping the rpms low so its not spinning the blower much if any and hoping the belt stays on. At this point I have NO fucking idea what it is. Hoping that I blew a line off on that pass, we will see.
Tucked her into the garage @ 2 am. :(

I think I Broke the Truck!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Most traumatic experience in the last week, by far! I went to wash the L today and get it all detailed for the “mini-meet” this afternoon in Orlando.
I am used to the Mustang and how I care for it, I always power wash the engine bay. I spray it down with degreaser and power wash it and VIOLA-magically it’s pretty and shiny and ready to go.
With the L having a build engine I consulted a few sources about it, said I would be good to go as long as I didn’t’ get the cops wet (where the plugs are, apparently? Who knew?) I let the engine cool down, rand the Inter-cooler fan & the radiator fan. Which are wired to run if I want them to once the truck is off, but the key is still engaged. I let the fans run while I washed the truck at the car wash. I degreased it and carefully covered the air filter. Let it sit for the recommended fifteen minutes.
I power wash the bay of the engine down, finish drying the truck, close the hood, jump into the truck and start it….well attempt to start it. No Go. Truck won’t crank over! Ah! First thought was immediate panic attack, I thought “Oh shit, I fucked up the Built Motor…NOOOOOOOOOOO” and then I began to scold myself “I knew not to wash the fucking motor, it’s nothing like the mustang, I am fucking stupid, I’ve had this thing for a week and already fucking broke it? REALLY? Glad I just threw thousands of dollars down the drain” I am just beside myself, on top of this, who the hell am I going to call to rescue my ass?
I called “ShesGotIt” and told her what’s up and she pretty much put my mind to ease saying it’s the battery. I wasn’t completely convinced but I was turning on the radio and it was a no-go. So eventually I came to that conclusion too!
Now, time to get a jump, I asked everyone at the car wash, no one had cables, I am about a mile or so away from home on a hot day, don’t want to walk back to get another car and cables, then I am stuck with two cars and one driver. I looked around all office buildings, crap! I texted “CarpetCleaner” whom I don’t speak to much anymore due to an incident involving the “missing” of my carpet cleaner (hence the name) and she wasn’t home either, thank god, I didn’t want her to have to rescue me, or explain I had an L now.
I sat in the truck thinking what to do, how can I get myself out of this situation without having anyone to have to “rescue me” this is about the time I thought it would be nice to have a boyfriend to come save the day. Single life sometimes sucks, this is that time it does.
I walk around the car wash again, for what feels like the twentieth time. Again thinking I should have AAA since boyfriend doesn’t exist in my life. Ugh. Life would be too simple if I actually signed up with AAA when I thought about it BEFORE this happened.

Then I see it, a Brakes Plus in the same parking lot, it’s in a new building and off to the far side (away from where I was, easy to miss) Finally! I went inside told the guys I needed a jump and they came right over.

Jumped me with a civic, the L started right up and then died. Needed more power, let the L run while still having the civic run. Success. I am feeling so much better and less stupid at this point. Talk to the guy about my truck for a little bit while its charging, and I am off, back home to change and head to the meet.

Glad it was something simple. I am never washing the bay ever again, even though it wasn’t the water that hurt anything. Lesson learned!

The Lighting is Home!

Welcome home to #5679-still name less, although I am liking "Roxii" more and more. I flew in Saturday afternoon and Matt picked me up. I was nervous the entire flight, butterflies in my tummy. Scared I wouldn't love it, its a big purchase, did I make the right choice? All of that.

He pulled up I heard her and I was inlove. Went back to his house, signed the title and paperwork and off I went! Met up with "TheCop" for a few hours hung out, went for a spin in his Cobra, took him for a spin in the L and talked a while and what not. It's been a long time coming (us meeting up) and it was good to FINALLY hang out!

Left Atlanta about 10, got the truck about 5. Headed back to Florida, stopped about 4 am just exhausted. Had just over an hour left, I couldn't do it. I was beat. Got in to my house around 8:30 and crashed.

The truck is LOUD, FAST and INSANE! Lots and LOTS of attention. Took pics today, Will be taking more this weekend. Welcome home new baby!

Snuggle-bugs!

I have to say that having these two monsters is very entertaining and very tiring at the same time, especially with Milo still in the potty training process. The things they do on a daily bases both make me laugh and angry at the same time. Its so hard to be mad at them, Look at those faces!!

There are so many wonderful moments that they make me laugh and smile and sometimes even ask them WTF ARE YOU DOING. But, I love them! My favorite is in the morning when they're all snuggly and cuddly and just want to lay there, they don't want to play-well Milo does, Bella wants to lay down and be petted.

They always just hang out with me, If I am on the couch typing a blog-like this one, they're just next to me, usually super close almost on top of me. Its cute, I know, and a little invasive. But-its always good to have them waiting for me at home, no matter how bad a day its been, or what emotional stuff I am struggling with, they're always there to make me smile!

I took that picture last night when they were all snuggled up to me next to the couch. It was an Awwwww moment, and I needed to share!

Packages!

The puppies are passed out on our new ottoman, its brown leather to match the couch, I picked it up yesterday during the shoe shopping trip. It’s long and thin and fits perfectly in my living room, I took off the legs on it so it would sit a little lower than the couch does. It’s perfect, now the quest to find something to match it is over, which ends the quest for the coffee table now because I can’t have both it would look weird! I did put my new poke-a-dot blanket over it so they can lay on it and not scratch the leather. They love that new blanket, it’s like they know it’s the new one so they want to lay on it, they’re so funny!

2 of the 4 packages have arrived+ 1 that I didn’t order! This afternoon I received the Miami Dolphin package. This evening when I got home I had the Ford Collection stuff and my new personalized plate for the Mustang. It’s awesome! So excited for Shadow to have SMKN back in her plate (plate is a variation of SMKN)

I signed the slip for the wine to be left since I knew I would be out; I signed the back of the paper and came back tonight to see another note saying they need a signature for it. Uh, I did that. They want me to actually BE here for that? Well stop coming after 5:30 damnit!
Other than that, pretty mellow day today. TheFriend needed to be somewhere at 4 and asked me to take him so I got there about 3:30 took him to run his errands and headed to the mall. I needed new eye shadows, well let me clarify, I needed a dark grey since I have every other damn color. All I have are silvers and I need a grey. I had $10 off to bare minerals, walked in and just thought I would buy one $13 eye shadow. Except the grey they had wasn’t what I wanted, they tried to talk me into a kit for $56 which I just bought a kit, then she showed me this eye kit “rock star” it has a sparkle black, sparkle grey and sparkle dark grey. $38 for it, good deal I get it, get $10 off wooo!

Did some other random shopping and headed to California Pizza Kitchen for some din-din. Everything we had was good; they had these avocado spring rolls with chicken and served with a salsa-ranch. Mmmmm! Of course I had a glass of Sangria, pretty tasty. I love their pizza I went with my favorite the “Sicilian” with extra salami, it was so awesome! I took out my nose stud since it was bothering me and placed it next to the glass of water. We finished dinner and headed out to the car so we could head back home. About half way into the drive I realize I am nose-stud less! Ahh! TheFriend asks if we should go back, I said nah; they clear the table it’s gone, no big deal. I hate that!

Oh well, I have others!

10:00 on a Friday night and I am finishing this blog and headed to bed, I have to be up early tomorrow to head to the air port to bring home the new truck. Need to get sleep since it will be an 8 hour trip!

New Shoes..New Shoes

New Shoes & Such
Time to get the check for the new Lightning (still nameless) I got the check from the bank which wasn’t as pain-full as I thought it would be. Then headed to the mall!
I’ve wanted some new tennis shoes for a while now, and I HATE HATE HATE tennis shoe shopping. I think they’re comfy I pay the $70 it is that shoes cost now a days I wear them for a while and then...Bam...not comfortable all of a sudden. I’ve always wore Nike’s and I love them, at first, I’ve noticed lately that they feel too narrow around my toes. I have the correct size I don’t know what the issue is!
I saw a guy a few weeks ago somewhere wearing these smooth and sleek Under Armor shoes in all black and I loved them. I’ve wanted all black tennis shoes for a while but I always end up with white somehow, or some sort of color with white-all the same. I went into Lady Foot Locker and saw the black UA I wanted. Asked for my size, I saw they were $79.99 whatever just let me try them. I also saw these all black Nike’s for $49.99 that looked awesome too. I tried on the Nike’s since they didn’t have the UA black ones in my size. The Nike’s felt like the other ones I have which I thought was normal. The girl says the lower end Nike’s are made to be as comfortable as the high end ones (read: shocks) I don’t like the high end ones, they hurt my knees. She brings out these black and baby blue UA shoes, little bit of a different style from the all black ones, I tried them on awesome feeling-compared the Nike to the UA and omg my feet feel a world of difference!!
I bought the black & blue ones, and some insole inserts she had me try on felt so comfy. Even the manager is wearing the shoes I just bought and says she loooooooves them. I was already sold.
They have these other UA shoes. Black and magenta with white on the bottom, same style as the all black ones but the pink ones are in my size. I try them on since she says we can order the all black ones if I want. I put them on thinking I would love them, nope. They didn’t feel as comfortable as the black &blue ones.
So now I am an Under Armor shoe chick. I’ll update as I break these in. They’re so cute! (For tennis shoes)

Going Bananas!

I think it’s something in the air, or maybe the time of year, it’s got to be something that is making banana sound so yummy to me!
Remember the Tampa Bay Brewery from yesterday’s IKEA adventures? That beer had a “hint” of banana-which was really more banana than “hint” regardless one of the top five beers I’ve ever had. It has a close running with my new favorite Wild Blue Blueberry Lager.
Tonight we went to P.F. Chang's it’s been a while since I’ve been- I think the last time was in Denver with Kyle back in December? I just remember it being cold and I wore sandals. Dinner was great as usual, I ordered the orange peel beef, and TheFriend got the Mongolian beef. It was a tough choice for me; I was between pepper steak or orange peel beef. Waitress suggested opb, I tried some of TheFriend Mongolian beef, and I was insta-upset. I should have ordered that it was SOFA KING good. Omg! Taste party in my mouth. I know now for next time! Dessert kicked ass though, The Friend went with the traditional cheesecake, I however had the banana spring rolls with pineapple ice cream. See below.

Its movie night! The original plan was to see “The Invention of Lying” which I’ve totally wanted to see, then we get to dinner and TheFriend wants to see “Paranormal” I instantly veto that the second the words leave his mouth. The reviews say it’s a “Blair Witch Project” type of movie, supposedly better. I hated BWP I thought it was stupid. However, Amy saw Paranormal and was so freaked out she had to have her kiddos sleep with her. Either way, I don’t want to see it! Since “The Invention of Lying” isn’t playing near us or at a time that will work we decide to go to St. Pete to see “Toy Story” & “Toy Story 2” in 3D!
On our way there we’re headed toward the pier and there are a bunch of guys on bikes, TheFriend said “look-The Jacket Uniform” That is awesome! I didn’t think of “The Jacket Uniform” so now I need to add that to the list of uniforms that are sexy on men. (read: not all men, just some)
This is the second actual 3D movie I’ve seen. The other one I saw was last year “My Bloody Valentine” supposedly so scary. It was stupid, bad effects and bad actors so I was really hoping this one is killer! We walk in and there is a “Toy Story 3…no toy gets left behind” sign. Then it hit me, and I felt pretty (read: stupid) I had no idea that’s why 1&2 were coming out again in 3D. Just kinda figured they were re-releasing them in 3D just because? Oh well…
The previews are all in 3D which I love, they showed the new Jim Carey animated movie “A Christmas Carol” It looks like it was made to be in 3D the previews totally have me sold. I am seeing it, end of story.
On to the movie! I love Toy Story, it’s been years since I’ve seen it, and in 3D it wasn’t that great, sure it had more depth to it, but since it wasn’t made to be 3D it didn’t JUMP at me. The first movie ended and we decided to bail on the second one TheFriend and I were both so damn tired from having our bellies full from yummy Chinese food.
We walked outside and apparently it was the Gay/Lesbian night at the movies, TheFriend said he read something about it being G/L weekend in St.Pete so we saw a bunch of them outside. Which I would like to note I am not a homophobe, I am pro-love, I don’t think love is confined to sexuality, creed, or race. Point of this mini-story is TheFriend points out this guy whose inside still about to walk out. Says he met him through a mutual friend and he is a Chaplin for some church and made passes at TheFriend. His actual verbiage went like this “That guy wanted to rape me.” I look at the guy (still inside) and as loud as possible I yell “HEY!” TheFriend grabbed my hand and pulled me about ten feet away so fast I couldn’t even blink! I am still laughing from it!
I needed to get gas before headed back to our side of town. Stopped at a gas station right off the highway. It was sketchy at best, St.Pete is really odd, there are beautiful houses and areas and then there are ghettos all intertwined. This particular gas station had the windows and doors barred-never a good sign, on top of that, it was about 11pm so not only were there bars all over, the door was chained to the window. Uhoh. It was at this point that shady character after shady character would pull in and out of the gas station as I pumped gas into the Lexus. I was glad TheFriend was there because being a woman alone in a questionable neighborhood without being protected made me a little scared. I don’t have the fear most people do, I was raised to be aware of my surrounding but not to be fearful. This time I was a little scared. Got the gas and got the hell out of there.
We stopped at 7-11 on the way home so TheFriend could grab some coke and milk, typical bachelor right? I love slurpees so I went in for a tasty treat! I didn’t know Domo was the slurpee mascot, apparently he is. TheFriend got a coke slupree, which I never get, I like coke, but not in slurpee-form it’s just not as good to me. They did however have banana! Woo! They also had this cool aluminum looking straws. I had to get one of those too, in pink! It was cool, so cool that it got cold-freezing cold. That is the point to keep your slurpee colder longer-or at least the stuff in the straw. I liked it, it was cool! I’m not one to chew on my straws anyways so it was perfect for me!

We drove home and went by Bay Shore, which TheFriend tells me is the longest paved sidewalk in the world. Pretty cool! I got to drive by some things in Tampa I haven’t seen before!!

Let the Presents Begin!

Remember that slip I told you about I got Monday? Went into the office to pick up my package of suprise.

It was my Lightning Hoody that Hubby sent me! Its black and plain on the front and the back is embrodered with the NLOC Logo in Blue and Silver. I love it!

Its not as random as it sounds. He was in IL when I was this July, he went for a Lightning meet and I was there because my mother had called me home, and ended up passing away that Friday the meet started. I couldn't come out because of what had just happened, I was in shock and too emotional to do much of anything and I had family coming down from Wisconsin. I asked hubby to get me a hoody from the event. He tried, they were out and he told me he would order me one.

I came to Denver about a month after loosing my Mom to handle legal things. Hubby told me he would have it for me then when he saw me. He didn't see me nor have it there, it did prompt him to order it and he said he would ship it to me. He texted last week while in VA to ask for my addy and low and behold...a week later!

I'm shocked he actually did what he said he was going to do. Weird. Just when you have someone figured out in your head..they surprise you!

Time will tell with the rest of what he says comes to life :)

Back to the Routine. Part Two

Typical routine is sleeping in, late lunches, movies, drinking, shopping, Florida sun and all of the randomness in between!

After IKEA we headed to Ybor City for some food and to grab a movie. We ended up eating at the Tampa Bay Brewing Company.

I’ve started to take a liking to more beer lately. I am a light-fruity-beer drinker this place is all micro brew so its time to try something new. I tell the server what I like; blue moon, woodchuck, Bud light lime beers around those caliber. He suggested that I order the “Wild Wharthog Weizen” which is a traditional weizen with hints of banana and cove.

He said its just a hint of banana so I wasn’t expecting much. It was more than a hint, it was very very good, light as I wanted it to be and being a wheat beer it tasted excellent, I loved the banana after taste to it.

To accompany that I had an awesome Cuban sandwich! Everything about it was just tasty and perfect.

We went to see “Couples Retreat” which I have wanted to see forever! Now, I thought it was going to be so funny and witty. It wasn’t! Actually, it was so boring to me I fell asleep and I never, I repeat NEVER fall asleep in movies especially since I got up at 11 am this morning.
It was a little under two hours, and really to me all of the funny stuff happened in the previews I give it two snoozes. Boooring!!

The highlights of the post movie are the lingo that “TheFriend” and I had:
“TheFriend”: Have you seen the new Ta-ko ad
Me: What? Ta-ko? Ad? For what?
“TheFriend”: Takobell
Me: Oh! TaCO I get it.
“TheFriend”: I hate you.

“TheFriend” :I love Clock Towers, but I didn’t want to tell you because it sounds like Cock. (Note: He is Puerto Rican so pronunciation is sometimes off”
Me:How do you say Taco?
“TheFriend” :“clock”
Me: No TACO!

Trip To IKEA

After the dealership it’s off to IKEA the original plan to get these tote storage things I want. We walk around IKEA for who knows how long. Really you can spend all day in that store and just get lost. I love it, always have and it’s nice to finally have not one but TWO within 50 miles of me!

We went to the one in Tampa; it’s the “new” one. They’re all the same for the most part, except the Chicago one, its THREE stories. The others I’ve been to are only two but I love them regardless.

I was on a mission to get the tote things, (I will post a picture so you get the idea) I also wanted a coffee and end table if I could find one I like.

I realized that IKEA is all about the white this time around. Like, EVERYTHING is white. EVERYTHING. Tables, beds, couches, rugs, TV stands. A lot of it is retro looking, I really liked this red retro TV stand since my TV is the 52” Samsung “Touch of Color” (its red) but the rest of my entertainment shelves are black so I like to stick to black.

On to the coffee table selection, they have this awesome table its white (OFCOURSE) and its square has glass on top and a drawer under it so you can display pictures, knick-nacks, ect. They have the matching end table for it too, which would be perfect for behind my couch. Issue is…IT IS WHITE! I’m not a fan of white since again, everything in my house is black, and the contrast would just be too weird. How does this not come in black? Where are the other options? White is the be all end all of IKEA furniture today? What?

I move on, clearly today is not my day to find the sofa and coffee tables my little heart desires.
On to cube-age storage instead of a sofa table. Little shorter fits more things in it. Pretty neat. Now they have them in a natural finish and black-brown. Where is the love for black? Black-brown is clearly more brown that it is black. TheFriend tries to convince me that it looks black, and it’s what he uses. Problem is where the cube-age would be sitting directly faced the sliding glass door. There would be ample light to expose its brown-want-to-be-black finish!

I’m not anti-brown my couch is brown, dark brown leather and light tan cushions with multi-brown-colored-pillows on it, and I love it. I feel its okay because it’s a couch, it has the “A-okay” approval to be brown, and did I mention how comfy it is? That is the selling point.
I am now not only annoyed at the takeover of white on the entire IKEA floor, but the lack of black-black finishes on things. Boo! I told TheFriend, IKEA and I are NOT friends today.

I did however buy a dark purple sheer curtain and rod to go over my black out curtain, Give it a little “jazzy” feeling. I wanted to buy the matching duvet cover in dark purple because it was beautiful. I’m not a purple person, but I am coming around to it. I prefer pink. Well, of course they had every size EXCEPT King! Ugh. How does that happen? Good thing my comforter is black and white so I can add color on the curtains and it will match perfectly. I was just annoyed I couldn’t get THAT duvet cover. I want a girly bed set, but I seem to change my style so often I don’t want to waste money. On top of the fact I sleep with 12+ pillows and I like them to have matching pillow cases!

Total spent @ Ikea was $57 I was happy with that!

Back to the Routine. Part One

Now that I am back home for about three weeks it’s time to get back into my routine!
Woke up this morning and the power was off, which means the air was off. Not a good start to the day, I love to shower in the dark. Ugh! Called the power company and it would be anywhere between 4-6 hours till it would come back on. Off I go!

Texted “TheFriend” (from previous NY stories) and asked if he wanted to go to Ikea. There are these plastic black stackable bin/storage things I wanted and every time I go I can’t ever freaking find them. Two sets of eyes are always better than one. He agreed.
Went to pick him up and off we went, drove by the Ford Dealership and stopped and looked around at the Mustangs they had out on the lot. I am just amazed that a Mustang costs from 30k-70k these days, how do you people justify that? I love the Shelby and Roush models, they’re just about the only S-197 that really jumps out to me, but after looking at them they come with a 55k price tag. Ouch!

I liked this Grabber Blue Roush 427 it had white decals. I don’t understand why when you’re paying 55k for a car that it comes with vinyl decals? Why not painted on ones?? They have a color similar to Dark Shadow Grey; Of course I loved that too. I stayed away from black as I am not a black fan, and also do not like red interior, too 80’s to me.

We walked by the “regular” GT models which are so bland to me, the new ones have this gianormous scoop on the hood that seriously takes up ¾ of the hood. Ugly. I’m not sold on them in the stock trim anyways. Heard a few of the GT500’s running, they sounded like sex. Still looking at 55k, which blows my mind.

I wanted to see a Raptor in person since I am undecided on how I feel about them. I asked one of the sales guys if they had one, he said yes, in the showroom. I figured it would be there. We walk in the show room, past the 2010 Taurus SHO which I didn’t even look out of the corner of my eye at. I was set on looking at this SVT Raptor with all I had to give it an opinion. It was Orange and when I looked at it from different angles it seemed to appear lighter and darker in spots. I liked that, reminded me of Beryllium which is my favorite orange of all time (Saleen is the only producer of that color BTW)

It is huge, the grill looks like a Tonka truck and it’s just blah to me. The inside is nice, reminds me of a cock-pit from an air plane, lots of buttons and switches. The interior of this one was orange as well, orange pain on the doors and the dash trim it was orange-over load.
What really turned me off was the graphics on the truck. Again just like the Roushs there are vinyl graphics along the sides of the truck in what reminds me of a “splattered” pattern. This truck sits at 45k and again, stupid vinyl graphics? Really?

The tires are big off road tires and you can see the fox suspension parts since it’s lifted. It just didn’t “do it” for me, I am just so sold on the Lightning and fell in love with that body style and that truck that this one is just “eh” to me.

I walked over to the Taurus SHO to check that out, it was black. I liked the black it was very very metallic paint. When you opened it was this hideous tan/brown color. I sat in the back; it was very comfortable and had a lot of room being that I am 5’10”. For the 41k sticker on the car I looked back at the Raptor and would rather have that for the extra 4k. But neither really sold me on that “HAVE TO HAVE” feeling. I’ll stick to Lightnings and Mustangs for now! Although, truth be told if I was buying a new car aside from a Mustang, it would be the Edge, I love those.
Seems like with Ford its 40k to play to get a new car. Wow!

Travel Forecast-Layover with a chance of Hang-over!

Headed back to Sunny Florida today! Sad to leave VA Beach but I will be back in five short weeks! I love flying out of ORF its small enough to get in and get to where I need to go without any delays or issues! So nice!

Baggage issues today? Nope! Thank god! I left one bag back at Amy’s since I don’t need half the crap I packed for the next five weeks. I checked one bag, and carried on the laptops and camera bag. Security was a breeze I even had time to sit out and type a blog (not this one) I wasn’t rushed. I had a lot of time to think about a few things. I like time to reflect on life and certain situations. I am going to hold my tongue on this issue until I know more, and then I will let the cat out of the bag if it comes true. Let’s just say it’s a big change, and can be a really great opportunity. Zip. That’s it. Lips are sealed.

There are never, EVER, EVER-any direct flights from Va to FL it seems. So again I am flying through Charlotte. I board the plane and everything is smooth, I catch up on reading “I hope they serve beer in hell” and get just about finished with it when the plane arrives in Charlotte. I have an hour layover and have to change planes. Joy.

I am in concourse E I need to go to concourse C which to me, would be easy and just right down the terminal. No of course it isn’t! It’s on the OTHER side of the airport, good thing I have time to spare. I head over there and take my time looking at the shops and all of the random stuff they have there. I come across a winery, I was shocked! A Winery? In an Airport? AND you can carry on bottles to the plane? No way! This is awesome. Immediately Charlotte is up there in my top 10 favorite cities and I haven’t ever been outside of the airport!

I talk to the guy for a few minutes let him know what my palette is; mostly sweet and I like to stick to the whites and or bubby. I try about seven wines and they are pretty good sized tastes, we’re talking more than ¼ a glass, and might I mention I haven’t had anything to eat all day. I feel buzzed, okay maybe more than buzzed but I am happy and I’m relaxed and that’s all that matters!

Get this, the place even ships if you order 3 or more bottles, they ship for FREE! I love free shipping. The guy said if I order more than $250 worth of wine in a case he’ll give me a case discount. I didn’t think it would be that high. I tried several whites, blushes and dessert wines; I loved the blush and two of the three dessert wines I tried. I told the guy I wanted 4 blush (they were $10 a bottle) and 2 of one dessert wine and 2 of the other. Because, somehow in my head that was 6! See how affected I was by the “tastes”? He quickly corrects my math and we laugh about it. I changed the 4 to 2 on the blush and leave the dessert wines they way they are. There are less of them per bottle, they cost more, and I love them so much more too. It comes to be $177 something with the tasting included in the price and he will ship them to me! I am excited! More presents for me!

I head over to the plane and get just about to the terminal and decide I should eat something. I grabbed a Jamba Juice on the way to the gate, once I got closer there was a sea-food joint, stopped in there and had some lunch. Cajun ahi-tuna and mashed potatoes, it was very good, hit the spot. I head over just as the plane is boarding, oh and randomly drunk text a few people at 3 pm. The text reads “Who finds the only winery in the charlotte air port, gets drunk and orders a case of wine to be shipped to them? Apparently I do” I am still laughing about that now, everyone else thought it was funny too!

I get into my seat (window seat-yesss!) I start reading again and just getting ready to take off. They inform us that the flight crew is coming in on another flight and will be coming from E concourse, and I just made that hike I know how far that was and I wasn’t in a hurry. Ugh! We’re now delayed about thirty minutes. I am not angry since I had some wine, just ready to get home and get my dogs, and watch the Monday Night Football game!

Fast Forward, plane lands in Tampa and I am walking out I am wearing my new Yankees jacket I got in New York an older guy who is part of the flight crew says “wear that jacket proud young lady” I smiled at him as he said “GO Yankees!” For those of you who don’t know, Florida is like mini New York, since every New Yorker moves down here, the Yankees are based out of here so we have a big fan base here. It’s nice!

I go to baggage claim to get my bag, I’m standing there, jacket is over my laptop bag since it’s immediately humid the second I step off the plane, the baggage guys sees me comes over and starts talking to me about my jacket. He said “I love your jacket can I borrow it” I said “ You don’t need a jacket here, it’s too hot” He said “ I have one at home, I’m a big fan” I said “This one is from New York I just got it” this lady next to me leans over and says “He just wants it because its new and its yours” We all laughed, and he told me he is from New York (see what I was saying) and where he grew up and all of that.

I get my bags, head out to the passenger pick up and meet TheFriend with my truck! He cleaned it for me! That is so nice; it’s nice to come home to a clean truck! The puppies were so freaking happy to see me! I love when they get so excited and run around me trying to jump up into my arms.

I get home, check the mail and there is a slip saying I have a package in the office! Yay! Presents have started to arrive. I will get that in the morning!
I am pumped to watch the MNF Game on TV since I am beat from traveling and then it hits me that since I haven’t called to get my cable reinstalled (I am never home so I canceled it a few months ago) the game is now on ESPN and not on ABC. UGH! I took a quick shower at about 9pm and threw on my Ronnie Brown jersey I just bought and headed to Beef O’Brady’s just across the street.

I got there at the second quarter, perfect timing. Ordered a beer and some food and sat on the edge of my seat all game. Beers are only $2.89 there for Bud Light Lime, killer deal!
Game was awesome, I fucking HATE THE JETS! Big rivalry between the Phins and the Jets! Thank god they pulled a win in the last 7 seconds I was worried! I was the last to leave the bar. I am a dedicated fan! Way to go boys! Let’s take next week off and come in strong for week 6!

Can You See Me?

I heart Camo stuff. I’m not sure why all of a sudden I love it, but I do. This is of course aside from men in Camo, I’ve always loved that.

I’m talking about my camera bag, soft gun case & purse-all camo! I bought them at the gun show about a month ago and ever since I’ve just loved them all. It’s not regular camo either, it’s unique. Plus it makes me laugh that I “can’t see it” since it’s camouflaged. It’s a running joke I have.
Now normally when I like something I tend to stick with it, hence why I bought three things that are camouflaged!
This brings me to the current mini-dilemma I want a Slanket. What is a Slanket you ask? It’s the REAL wearable blanket, Snuggie; you don’t have anything on the Slanket! www.slanket.com for those of you who need to check it out, Do it. Go right now. I’ll wait.
How can you not love that? I wish it came with a hood and I would invest in the stock. I’ve known about these for a few years, they’ve come down in price it used to be $50 plus shipping. But, Look how huge those things are 60x90? That rocks!
I’ve wanted to order for a while, I’ve forgotten about them till Amy & I went to Kohl’s and bought our blankets and saw the Snuggie. I felt the Snuggie for the first time; it feels cheap-like airplane blankets. I hate that feeling.
Slankets now offer a camo pattern. I am slightly worried that if I wore this around my house that I wouldn’t be seen, might confuse the dogs. Hahahaha!
I like the pink one, I always have wanted that one, but the camo one is now in the running as well. I will think it over a few more days, and decide a winner and order. I’ll keep you posted!

Update! Yay!

So, its about 1am and I JUST got an email from Matt about my new baby.

Here's what it says..

Just a quick update: I picked the truck up from the detailer this morning and finished the compression checks. All cylinders are A-OK, and you have 8 new NGK TR6 spark plugs. I put the new blower belt on it (a gatorback), and it feels pretty damn awesome. I will really miss the sound that KB makes too.
I'm flying out to Seattle in a few hours and returning Friday night around midnight. The truck will be in covered parking, so hopefully all the detailing won't go to waste. :P Saturday morning I'll get to work loading the bed up with all the extra wheels and tires, and then I'll see you at the airport when you arrive.
- Matt

OMG! Its actually happening, this is a GO (not that it wasn't BEFORE I booked my ticket to Atlanta) but it just confirms it again, I got all excited and giddy..and no one is up to share my excitment with. Pfft!

See you soon Silver L!

Mystery Numbers

I hate when this happens…some random number pops up on my phone, usually it’s a text.

Random calls don’t bother me; I figure if I don’t know you, you can leave a message. I almost refuse to answer my phone unless I know who it is. I hate being caught up in the “awkward conversation” which usually goes like this:
Me: “Hello?”
Random: “Hey what’s up?”
Me: “Uh, Who’s this?”
Random: “you don’t know who this is?”

And at which point I’m annoyed clearly I don’t know who it is, hence why I am asking the question. Anyways, today it was a random text (which I hate) saying at 11am “Hey” that’s it? “Hey”? What the hell is “hey”? It’s not “hey...what’s up” or “hey...how are you” of course this “Hey” is from some number that isn’t on my phone, which leads me to believe I haven’t talked to this person in at least 3 months. Since I am pro-delete I like to delete people who aren’t active in my life, mostly because I don’t want to drunk dial/text them when I don’t need to. Usually its people that have hurt my feelings or made me mad, or something along those lines. It’s not nearly as random as it may sound. I am a prompt text-responder, normally and I was today too, I texted back with “hi? Who’s this?” which I thought would get a prompt text back with an answer. Nope. No text back! Now what the hell? I acknowledged your text, and asked who it was. Maybe I got a new phone and you’re not in there? Usually that’s never the reason, but I reserve it in case it might happen one day.

People usually get all hurt that you don’t have their phone numbers. The reality is, if I don’t talk to you on a more-regular basis, I don’t care to have you in my phone. It’s just that simple. It’s a 303 number, so it’s someone from back home. Who? Yea I have NO FREAKING idea. The only thing I can think to do is call it. So I texted the same “hi? Who’s this?” twenty minutes after the first text, again nothing. Guess they don’t want to say “hey” after all huh? Now, who at 9am on a Sunday in Denver wants to just say “hey”? I went back to sleep for a few hours since we were in Richmond visiting Amy’s boyfriend B-Rian.

On the way home we stopped to get gas for the truck, I called the number thinking I would get a voicemail. I didn’t really want anyone to answer. I figured it was a guy anyways. I called, the ring back song was “Baller” at least I think that’s what it’s called. You know the song… “wanna be a baller, shot caller, 20 inch rims on the impala, getting laid tonight” yea that’s the one. Then it goes to voice mail, JACKPOT I thought until I hear the automated message that tells me the number I am calling. Damnit! Back to square one. I’m not one to dwell on it, just find it odd.

Guess I will plug it into my old phone when I get back to Florida and see if it pops up with who, and if not…Oh well! On an unrelated note..While driving home, Amy and I are talking about life, men and where it’s headed. The usual "girl talk" it’s nice since we don't get to spend allot of time together, when we do it like it just picks up where we left off.

Anyhow, she likes to tease me that I will marry F5* while it’s funny now, It won’t happen. At least... I hope not. Ugh.

She then tells me "You're going to marry Matt" we don't know any Matts and she randomly picked that name. She told me "write that down somewhere in case it comes true" I laughed and said, the L owners name is Matt, but she didn't even put that together, makes me laugh, So I am noting it here, and when I get married (5+ years) down the road, it'll be funny to read this and laugh. And if you are out there Mr. Matt whom I should marry...Hope to meet you at some point in my life :)

Mini Road Trip!

I think I’ve expressed I love to travel over the last few blogs right? Haha.
We’re off to Richmond to spend some time with B-Rian. I’ve never seen Richmond so this is a first for me. We decided to grab some lunch since B-Rian had to work, he met us for lunchy and then we were off to shop.

We went to some out-door mall, the name escapes me right now as I type this out. It was nice, had a lot of high end stores like: Louis Vutton, Coach, Saks 5th Avenue and like stores. I’ve always wanted a LV purse, we walked in and I saw the one I liked. It was the white leather with colored monograms, I looked at the price tag it was $1700. Small bag too I expected it to be around $1200 or so. NO! I can’t justify that, even if I had the money! That is like 3.5 months in rent! Good lord. Plus even holding it, it looked fake. I know it clearly was not since I was in LV with it, but I’ve seen so many knock offs, the real thing to me doesn’t do it for me as much as it did before. Thanks knock offs. Ugh!

We strolled into Coach and Amy fell in love with this gorgeous purple, black & tan silk print bag. It’s the new signature print, not my style but the bag was nice. I fancied myself this silver-sparkle leopard print, the bad thing was, it was $400. I have no issues spending money but I do have an issue with spending that much on one bag, I prefer the outlets to the full-line store. I like to get more for my money. Aside from the silver print leopard bag, I didn’t care too much for the fall line.

After that we strolled around the mall in and out of various stores we ended up in Bare Minerals. Now, I love make up but I don’t always wear it. I am a big fan of the mineral eye shadows I like the “Smokey” (read: Slutty) eye makeup look. I have a habit of buying it in all colors; half of it is still un-opened in my make up bag. They have all of the eye colors out on display so they can do your make up, I was like a kid in a candy store looking at all the colors, and trying to remember which I have and which I don’t. Note to self: make a list of colors to avoid this in the future.
Amy hasn’t really been “exposed” to this sorta make up, we bought some last time I was in town in July but she wasn’t sure how to make the “Smokey” (read: slutty) eye makeup look. So, the gal did her makeup. She picked out this teal color, and I loved it! It looks a little dark and questionable but if applied right it should be hot! I have a lot of turquoise in my collection but no teal; I have to pick this color up.

The gal puts it on way too light and it looks blah, I am such a fan of dramatic make up it brings more attention to your eyes and looks better. I instructed the gal to put it on more dramatic and she did and now it’s looking better. Skip forward to the eye liner, she choose some light black which I voted no on the second she pulled it out of the drawer. You can’t put on a bold teal make it bold on the eye and line it with some wimpy-ass-soft-black. Blah! She put it on anyways; Amy looked in the mirror, looked at me and said I was right. I told you so moments kick ass! On to the dramatic black, which looked one million times better!!

She does her foundation and tries to sell the skin care line and blah blah blah. Mean while I am walking around looking at colors and stuff. Now keep in mind this is a small store, we’re just about the only ones in there, and all the other chicks are trying to get me to sit down so they can do my makeup. No thanks, I can do my own, and on top of that, I have no frikken idea what color I am wearing out later on and I don’t want to have to redo my makeup. Plus, I like the way I do it!!

I was already sold into this “surprise kit” with 3 shadows, lip gloss, brushes and some sort of all over color. It was $54 and a good deal for the brushes alone. I then picked up the teal Amy used and 2 shades of a lighter green blend. I have hazel eyes and that is the best thing to bring them out green. I don’t have many green-greens just the flashy turquoises and like colors.

I picked up a primer too; I don’t need the rest of their product line since I am fine with the stuff I use. The lady was really trying to sell to Amy, and pushy at that, she is ringing me up and trying to guilt her into purchase, which I hate. If she wants to buy she will and if not, we know where this store is if we have to come back.

I’m convinced they work on commission and the products are good enough to sell themselves no guilt trip needed. Plus I have a plethora of colors Amy can use later on to do her makeup. Which I know I will already be doing her makeup and her hair!

$115 later I’m set with the makeup selection hoping I use most of it!

Nothing left at the mall to see so we head out to Wal-Mart to get some stuff for dinner since we’re celebrating B-Rian's birthday early. Steaks, potatoes and corn with bread are on the menu for tonight. Everyone was at Wal-Mart it was a little insane trying to get in and out of the isles!
I am a big toy-car collector; I’ve got to go to the toy isle no matter what store I am in to see if they have the cars I want. Mustangs only, of course!!! My collection has reached well over 500+ little mustangs! I pick out 5 that I don’t have, or at least that I don’t think I have. I pick up the newest edition of Cosmo, not really sure why either, I carry the last 3 months around in my laptop bag, and haven’t looked at any of them. But, I plan on reading them!! I go to check out first, rings 4 of the 5 cars up, the 5th one didn’t ring up. Amy said “Looks like that one is free, we like free” I couldn’t agree more. She types in the department code, doesn’t ring up, she tries to scan it again, same issue! So get this…She just put it in the bag and then rang up the Cosmo. I got a car for FREE! It was a very exciting moment for me! Free car yay!!

Time to go to B-Rian’s and start making dinner, I jump on the web and catch up on the forums, looking at parts for my soon-to-be-Lightning, not that it needs anything, but I like to window shop. I can’t remember the last time I’ve ordered anything on-line it’s been a little bit. I am more of an instant gratification shopper. I mean, I see it, I want it, I buy it-I have it! I’ve wanted more Dolphins gear, I just bought a Ronnie Brown #23 home jersey while in VA Beach but, I’ve been searching for the white hoody they wear on the side-lines. Time to go to their website and check it out! They’ve got it; it comes in Orange with Teal or White with Teal. I prefer the white! Its $69.99 Jesus! I place it in the cart and keep shopping. I am so used to buying sweatshirts and jackets; I still continue to do so even though I live in a tropical place. Hey! It gets cold sometime right? Plus I visit cold places. I picked an orange zip up jacket too, not a huge fan of orange but I liked the style of it, I think it was $49.99 on that. I looked at the jerseys too, just to see what they have, nothing exciting. They did however have a jersey for pups, I dress Bella up all the time and the jersey is an away one with the number 00 on it, I have a purse with 00 on it too. I bought it for her it was $29.99. Didn’t get one for Milo since he’s too little and I don’t really play dress up with him.

I’m excited for presents yay!

The ordering didn’t stop there. I am a member of Columbia House Movie Club and I’ve wanted to order a few things from there too, just never had the desire to complete the order. I’ve got to buy 4 more movies before next summer or something like that. I got an email that said buy one get the rest 70% off. I can’t pass up $6 new release movies. I’ve wanted to get “Planet Earth” on blu-ray forever. It’s a little pricy here ($70 versus $55 on other sites) but I’m ordering a bunch of them anyways, why not just pay one shipping charge? I haven’t really built up my blu-ray collection since I don’t think EVERY movie I want to watch needs to be in blu-ray. The high intensity action ones yes, of course but, the normal chick flicks-not so much. I’ve never seen the show “Heroes” but I’ve been meaning to buy it. Friend of mine told me to ONLY get it in blu-ray. At Best Buy its $90 a season. WHOA! There are 3 seasons, that’s a lot of cash! Columbia House has them for $49 for the first season, and the others are $59. I ordered a bunch of movies, some new some to complete my collection. Like “The Prince & Me” I needed the second and third and they came up at $3.88 each. Of course I don’t remember what else I ordered, but the total was a little over whelming. Oh well! You can’t put a price on entertainment right??

This of course, after I bought a boat load of new-release movies in Denver, I had to when they were shutting down a store. New release movies for $8? I had to have them!

I will be getting Dolphin presents AND Movies! Sweet! I love packages!

The ordering fun didn’t stop there either; I made my way to Ford Collection and browsed through their selection. I am slightly disappointed they had a few things that I wanted to order that they no longer listed. Like this bitchin’ mustang guitar, it was an acoustic and it was black and had the fire pony on it, It was awesome and also $400 but whatever. They don’t have it, all they now have is the electric one at $700 which isn’t nearly as cool. I checked E-bay and no go on the one I wanted. Oh well!

I did order a light grey hoody with an embroidered white pony on it, an Ashley force white watch with a pink face. I don’t wear watches much but I do have a flaming pony one I love, and this one was only $26 so why not! Then I snagged a fleece mustang jacket with the logo and “mustang” on it.

Super excited now, 3 packages to come! And oh…my “lightning hubby” back in Denver ordered me a Lightning Hoody and shipped it out on Thursday so I should have that too. That makes 4 packages! I love presents and no one really has my addy to send me anything so I will send myself stuff!

Booked!

Let me first just say, even typing this I have butterflies in my tummy (read: yummy, the typical typo I have, and we roll with it) I booked my ticket to go pick up the said Lighting in my previous blog. Since no one really reads this-I am sneaky and haven’t really shared it much (that and, who wants to read my random adventures?) I am keeping it hush-hush till I have the title and keys in my hand.
The truck is in Atlanta the price is right, the mods are right, the motor is the reason I am buying this bad boy and I am ready to roll.
The day is the 17th. I am still traveling the east-coast in Virginia Beach I will be back the 12th. Matt, the owner of the L now, will be out of town till the 16th so the 17th is the first day I can go get it.
I asked for a compression test, as recommended by a friend who knows L’s, this truck & its builder and Matt said no problem, let him know when I am flying in, he will come get me & told me I will love this truck.
I have no doubts in my mind once I actually lay eyes on it, and get my foot on that pedal I will love it. For now, it’s still the shock of wanting one, finding one, and committing to it.
I don’t have commitment issues, but I do change my mind a lot! With SO SO SO SOOOO many trucks on the market I just want to make sure THIS is THE truck for me.
A few friends have reassured me that I am getting a hellva deal on the truck, and bottom line, for the money I would rather go fast than have a stock-low-mileage-truck. Which later on will require me to throw money at it, and I can’t really justify passing this one up.
Of course, I commit to Matt to let everyone know the sale is pending on it, and not a few hours later a Florida member of LRodder PM’d me to offer me his truck. While I would love to hear about it, I’ve already committed to this truck, and I need to stick to it. It has everything and more I would ever want on a truck, and honestly: it’s way too much of a truck for me-but I am willing to grow into it J
In the long run this truck should last me a long time the way it is set up, and save me a lot of money since I won’t need to throw money at it to go fast, it does that, thanks to the previous owner’s pocket book!
So, as it stands it looks like Shadow will be having a Silver Lightning as a sister, who is yet to be named at this point in time.

Saaaaaay What?

Say What?

I’ve spent a week with Amy & the Girls, who I consider family. It’s always a good time with them, no matter if it’s just sitting around and talking or out and about, they can always make me laugh. Here’s just a bit of random-crazy-funny-stupid things we’ve said over the last week…well the ones that I can remember!
“I don’t understand what I’m saying…WAIT, YOU don’t understand what I’m saying” –Taylor @ Cheesecake Factory
“When I say DRUNK, you say How High!”-Amy in the truck singing “JUMP” by Flo-rida
“Scoopid Scop” Me- talking about a stupid cop, just didn’t come out right.
Me to Alyssa: “Are you going to carry this?”
Alyssa: silence…
Alyssa: “Wait, what did I just say?”
Me: “Nothing, I was talking to you”
Alyssa: “Oh?”

There are SO many more, they're momentary but all make me laugh. Thanks girls for always keeping a smile on my face and laughter in the air!

Family Night

Looks like its family night! New to me, but I will roll with it. My previous dinner plans got canceled since Jax wasn’t feeling well, little bit of heart break since I wanted Sushi and Amy refuses to eat it.
Family night it is! We had Chicken Pasta, it was great, marinara sauce, and chicken was perfectly moist and delicious, bow-tie noodles (which are my favorite).
We sit down in the dining room and the rules are there are no cell phones allowed at family night. We all talked about our days, listened to the kid’s events at school and what is coming up in the next few weeks for them.
I can’t even remember the last time I had a “family” night. Since it was just my mom and I for the last 5 years, we became best friends and always did everything together. This was just a different dynamic, it was a nice feeling. After dinner we’re supposed to do something together, it was Alyssa’s night to plan it. She couldn’t come up with anything, so we all threw out ideas. I wanted to go to a movie, but by the time we checked the schedule the only movies playing were the 10 o’clock ones. With the kids having school the next day it was too late. Taylor wanted to go to some sort of “patch” shop. Alyssa wanted to go down to the board walk by the beach. Amy & I had just been there earlier in the afternoon. Apparently it’s a tradition to go to the board walk; we’ve gone every single time I’ve been in town.
The kids went to their rooms to do whatever it is they do, and we sat in the living room and talked. I wanted dessert. I wanted blueberry cheesecake, and do you know who has the best cheesecake ever? That’s right…The Cheesecake factory. We went there, it was my treat, and it was PERFECT!
Amy had the red-velvet cheesecake, which had alternating layers of red velvet cake and original cheese cake. She let me have a bite, it was excellent!! I went with the wild blueberry and white chocolate cheese cake it is so yummy. Has real blueberries and the perfect amount of white chocolate swirled in it. It tastes like blueberry muffin mix, but in cheesecake form. Trust me; it is worth the risk to try it. Taylor ordered cookies & cream and Alyssa got the snickers one.
It was a sweet ending to a great family night!

The Night of A Million Searches..

Or at least it felt that way after staying up till 4 am once again searching for my new toy. I tell you what, looking for a new-used car is hard enough as is, let alone trying to find a built motor major-modified-one!
The search for the Lightning has been in full force in the last week or so I’d say. Feels like forever, slightly dramatic you say? Yes, I’ll give you that, but, I’ve packed a lot of late night searching adventures into this “quest for an L.”
I wasn’t really ready to buy, but, thought I would look around and see what is out there, and if I find something I find something, and if not, I wasn’t in a rush to buy.
I have 3. Yes. THREE cars already. For a single person in a one bedroom apartment that is more than enough! I currently have a car, truck & suv. I pretty much have the bases covered as far as “types” of vehicles to own. Now I would just like to add a “fast” category to that.
I am not one to settle, in anything I do. Lesson learned thanks to a previous relationship. Which I now apply to all of my life. Thank you Stupid for that.
I have my eye on one, built, modded, priced a tad higher than what I wanted to spend, but the negotiation is underway. Close to where I live-8 hours away. Has a great build, proven track times and dyno numbers, previous owner is well known for the truck and the build, motor and everything on it is still strong. Not the color I wanted, but I can move past that. The only stipulation was NO BLACK TRUCKS.
We will see if this truck is “THE” truck in the next few days.

Book-Worm

I love to collect things, and within the last year, it’s been books. They are all very interesting books, or so they’ve lured me into buying them and putting them on my book shelf.
I have finally started to read the books I’ve “collected” there are a TON of them. I figured I might as well start reading since I have the time to do so now. Plus it helps me escape from all of the emotional stress I am under.
I’m reading two books right now; I started reading “My Horizontal Life” By Chelsea Handler, who more famously goes by Chelsea Lately. The book is exactly what it sounds like, a collection of random one night stands. It is very entertaining and makes me laugh, I’ve gotten lost in some of the chapters and just lost track of time. I haven’t finished it yet; I left it in the Mustang about half way through it.
I did however; bring “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell” By Tucker Max. They’re making a movie out of his book, it actually comes out tomorrow. I wanted to read the book before seeing the movie, which, I’ve wanted to do forever, I just get lazy and see the movie first. I like to build up the characters with my own imagination versus portraying what Hollywood has already casted the characters.
Anyways, same type of book, random one-night-stands, drunken adventures and some very detailed and insane stories. I have to wonder now, after these two similar books, are there more like this out in book land that have no crossed my path? I need to look into this.
I seem to buy books in “themes” I went through the single-chick stage of buying (still in the process of reading those, or rather, starting to read those) which is also connected to the dating-type of books, the chicken-soup-for-ANY-soul, the guide-to-anything, the military-stories, photography-how to’s, puppy training and I think there are a few romantic ones in there too. I focused a lot on single girl books, single girl falls in love, single girl has a career, whatever. It applies to my life.
I’m going to TRY to start reading more, getting into the books that caught my attention from the cover! Wish me luck!

Warm & Snuggly!

Warm & Snuggly

I am used to cold weather, and in Florida there isn’t “cold” per say, more like “cooler” weather. I love blankets; I mean I LOVE them mostly throws and the softer the better, obviously.
Since I am visiting Amy in VA Beach this week, we were out shopping at Kohl’s, I needed to spend my ‘Kohl’s Cash” and we walked around and looked at everything deciding what to buy.
We came across these blankets, and there were two of them, on clearance. They are super soft and kitted they’re a mix of grey and black threads. Amy got so excited draped the blanket around here, in effort to “snuggle” it and said “OH MY GOD! I LOOOOVE THESE, So soft! Feel” and as I went to feel it, she turned away and I didn’t get to feel it. Brat! Luckily there was another one that I could feel. She was right, they are awesome.
I had to get them, they were $7.99 and I bought them both, one for her, one for me. I am a good friend! I couldn’t resist the price and then went over to the fleece blankets.
Back in Florida I have a light blue oversized fleece that I love, also bought it at kohl’s back in Denver a few years ago, it’s my favorite. They had a white one with colored poke-a-dots on it! It was cute and not on sale. What the heck, I bought it too!
Since I am here for what we call “recovery time” to recover from the traumatic and tragedies of both of us losing our mothers two weeks apart. We spend a lot of time talking and of course on our blackberries in the same room. We both recline in the recliners with the soft new blankets draped over us and just relax.
It’s been one of the nicest things I’ve had in a while, be it if we’re watching TV, or if I am reading, or us laughing at each other or the kids OR the cats. Sometimes doing nothing and being with a great friend makes life feel a little bit better! We have definitely lived up to our nick names “Pot & Kettle”

Back to my “Home” away from home!

VA Beach baby! Spending a week with Amy (Pot) and the kiddos..and the wild wild kittahs too! Time for “Recovery Time” which is a lot of relaxing, wine, shopping, laughing and crying I’m sure.

Trip got off to a rough start this morning. I like to fly the 7am flights out of Tampa, it’s easy to get in and out of (usually) and there is almost never any traffic, could be because the 7am flights I take are Sundays. Anyways, I dropped the dogs and my truck off at my friend’s house, he took me to the airport, and all was smooth.

I planned on checking ONE bag, carrying on ANOTHER and had a laptop bag and a special bag for Amy with lots of break-ables and sentimental stuff for her birthday/feel better presents (since her mamma passed) Well I curbside check the poke-a-dot bag, its heavy and the guy is right there. Its $22 to check it. He tells me I might need to check one more, I pass.

I get upstairs to get on to the train to go to the terminal. There are two women checking boarding passes, and the one to the right is the one I went to. She tells me I can’t take 3 bags, only 2 on US Airways. I’ve never been told this, well, Uh, aside from what the guy down stairs said, but other than that I haven’t. She told me I had to go check one of them. Ugh, fine. She was shitty about it too. I go back down stairs to check another bag, I decide to check the bag of break-able stuff, the other option was my black Nike gym bag which was packed with 20+ shot glasses for Amy and my new Camera which I won’t let out of my sight.

The lady fights me on what I want to check, and is trying to persuade me to check the Nike bag, I refuse. $30 to check the break-able bag, Whatever, I just want to go, its 6:15 the flight leaves in 45 minutes, I need to go back upstairs.

I decide to go to the one to the left this time, since I am bitter at the lady to the right. Wrong choice! You know how they have the carry on “example” where you theoretically put your bag into the space provided to see if it fits?

I’ve never seen ANYONE have to put their bag in this damn thing…until now. The lady tells me in some sort of broken English to fit my bag into that tiny metal space. Clearly it’s not going to fit. I over packed as usual. My reasoning behind this bag was, I ALWAYS see people with huge duffle bags as carry ons. Well I have to try, it sits on top of the “allotted” space just fine, and then she’s trying to get me to take things out. Which isn’t going to work, I don’t have any space to put it. I have a laptop bag with me, which is full of 2 laptops; there isn’t any room in there as is. So, I try to take out the Camera and the camera bag since it’s bulky. Fail. Now I have 3 bags and I can fit the Nike bag which is good, but I made another bag by pulling out the camera bag and the lady is telling me that won’t work, I GET THAT! I keep trying to get her to let me go and I will adjust it at the gate, somehow. She says no, I’m angry at this point.

After what felt like forever, I assume it’s been less than five minutes; she looks at my boarding pass again, and tells me to go to the gate.

Security takes a little bit to go through since people can’t pull their laptops out and put their shoes back on and get out of the way, typical!

I get to the gate just as the last few people are boarding, Great. I see a guy with a bigger bag than mine to the right of me since there are two people checking in, his bag got pulled and has to be gate checked, so I tuck mine off to the side, go to the gal to the left hoping to sneak by with my bag. She takes my ticket, gives it back and I walk through the doors to get started down to the plane. I exhaled shew! I won.

Then she must have looked back after I passed through, She told me to come back I had to check that, it’s too big, I was upset, here we go again, Not only do I have to check bag THREE but now I don’t have time to repack it. She fills out the ticket since I have a plane change in Charlotte; I grab the camera and bag out of it, and let them take it. Ugh, I was ALMOST there!!
The good news is, I didn’t have to pay for that bag.

Oh well, on the plane, time to start reading the new book “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell”

Tidy!

With my random adventures and traveling all over the place, I have neglected my apartment. I still haven’t unpacked everything my dining room is now my “storage” for the bins I haven’t unpacked, my hood, seats and TV box among other random things.
I always want to have a clean apartment when I leave, so when I come home completely exhausted I don’t have to put anything away aside from the bags I’ve brought on a trip with me.
This is one of those times it would be nice to have a man to do those chores for me, you know clean the kitchen, do the laundry, make the bed…wait. No man does any of that! Who am I kidding? Hahah!
Well since I am leaving bright and early in the morning, I need to head out of here by 5 am I decided to tackle the apartment, catch up on laundry and get my room in order, atleast put away all my clothes, I will deal with the stuff on top of my dresser when I return.
What a task, I cleaned and cleaned, and did load after load of laundry and still have a few loads of towells and sheets to do when I get home….but I did it.
Hell I even plan on making my bed in the morning so when I come home its all ready for me to jump in and relax!
I can’t believe I was able to pack, clean and get the dogs ready to go I’m very pleased with my self!!

Shadow Has a Garage!!

It’s been a long time since she has had a garage and the parking situation at my apartment complex is a little touchy. You can only have 2 cars in a one-bedroom; you get one “pass” per vehicle, up to two. You are required to have a pass to enter the complex if you don’t you have to give the guard all of the info: who you’re going to see, their address, who you are, ect. It is annoying to have to stop and say “I live here” 3 times a day. Typically it’s the night guard who’s on top of it; people come in and out during the daytime hours.
Shadow and Jayde (Mustang&F-150) have stickers, while the Lexus does not. I choose to daily drive the Lexus, its comfortable. I always parked it in front of my building in a row with the other two cars. I got a letter on it with a “complaint” that it didn’t have a sticker and had to park in guest parking, which is a block and a half away by the tennis courts. I parked it there on the 24th of August, the day before I left for Colorado. I haven’t touched it since I left! I decided now that I never seem to be home, I want my car to be safe at my complex. Not that it already isn’t, I just want more security for my piece of mind and I hate having to leave it at my friend’s house all the time when I go out of town. I decided to get a garage.
Its $80 a month for a garage, of course the garage isn’t really close to my apartment, it’s just about the middle of the complex and I live on the end. Whatever, if I decide later on I don’t want it, I’m not committed to it. I could always do a carport for $20, but that doesn’t make me feel “secure” and I get more storage space for random car parts I have.
So, now that I have a garage, I get to have another pass, I registered the Lexus with the office and I was excited. FINALLY! I went back to the tennis court to get the Lexus and park it by the truck, I get in, turn the key and it turns over but won’t crank. Damnit. I called the office; they don’t have anyone that offers jump-starts, go figure.
Let my friend know about it since I was headed to his house later on for dinner, he has roadside assistance on his phone and just has to be there, so we planned after the movie we were going to he’d come over and we’d call. No problem.
I hoped it was the battery and no the alternator or something else. It had to be the battery it sat for a month straight.
We went to the movies to see Surrogates. Pretty good flick, Weird concept I give it a B, I was entertained! Then we went to get ice cream at Cold Stone since its right there. I LOVE Cold Stone, it’s a newly acquired love. I always get the “banana caramel crunch” which is French vanilla ice cream, bananas, caramel sauce, chopped almonds, I then add in more banana, caramel, white chocolate chips and chocolate shavings. It is heavenly! I like to get the “ours” so I can enjoy it for a while. The gal was making mine and there were three cops standing by the registers talking to one another and talking to one of the young girls that work there. Of course I checked them out when I got in the door. I heart men in uniforms. The one talking to the teen girl was tall, fit, bald and sexy; I looked over a few times, made a few comments to my friend. The girl is mixing my ice cream and I look over at the sexy man-cop and his jaw drops and he looks at me and I said “are you making fun of my ice cream” he was very coy and said “No, No, I didn’t realize it was to go, I was about to say, whoa, I’ve never seen one that big who can eat that? I didn’t realize it was one to go” I gave him a hard time back about Lakeland cops not being friendly and hassling me about my ice cream to-go. He was flirty back, and again, VERY sexy!! But he was talking to the teen, who worked there, and he clearly looked to be early 30’s and I was with a male friend. It was a fun flirty experience. Anyways, we then called roadside assistance and headed back to my apartment. Played Wii while we waited and then the guy came.
Jump started the Lexus, it died. Ugh! Did it again, it stuttered, and then started to run just fine, let it run for a good while, bs’d with the tow truck driver, turns out he has a mustang. Small world right? He’s from Jersey, lives in Plant City, tells me I need to check out the Strawberry Festival in March and we talk for another hour while we turn the car on and off to make sure its holding a charge.
I came back to my apartment, played more Wii. Whooped my friends ass in everything we played because I am awesome (note, in the 2 years I’ve had my Wii I’ve played it less than 5 times)
Put Shadow in her new home around the corner in the garage, and called it a night! Lots to do tomorrow to get ready for the trip to see Amy!

Over Traveled?

I think I might have “travel exhaustion” is that possible? Let me run you through the last few weeks of my life to lead me to this conclusion.
I was in Denver for 3 weeks, drove there and back, 3000+ miles total and over 55 hours of drive time involved. I was home for 6 days and then hopped back into a car for another 3700 miles trip to the North-East (previous blogs) I am home for two days and headed out to Virginia beach on Sunday morning via plane-thank goodness.
I came down with a head cold the night before we took off for the New York adventure. I think it was my body trying to tell me to slow down. I didn’t heed the warning! Spent the first four or so days on cold medicine and using vicks puff tissues like they were going out of style. For the record, those things frikken ROCK! Best tissue EVER to use when you’re sick. They’re like.. magic tissues. Even got my travel buddy hooked on them!
I’m feeling a lot better now, and hoping that it stays that way. I travel too much to be sick! Lots of places to see and people to visit!

36 Hours of Boston!

Take 2- on to the full day of Boston!

Since we got in yesterday about 8pm we didn’t get to enjoy a full day of this city. We check out of the hotel we were in, because, well, it wasn’t exactly up to par! Check into a Red Roof in about four miles down the street. Check in is at 1pm we take the risk and get there just after noon. There is one room open at the time got there, we dropped the dogs off and off to Boston we went. It’s rainy, cold and we had to leave the bad-boy cameras behind because really, what is the point in taking the risk of dropping them? We knew our shots would be limited and it was just safer for them to stay back at the hotel!

We take the toll roads into the city, I have no idea where we are headed, I assumed lunch, and really it didn’t matter I have no idea what there is to do in Boston on a rainy day.

We pull into some sort of district, it’s the best way I can describe the inner city of Boston. It looks historic, old buildings, tight streets and even tighter parking. The lot we pull into has a bunch of white tents looks to be merchants. The guy at the parking booth tells us to go back out to the street and take the next right and park behind a building.

We turn right, and as usual the parking is bumper to bumper car to car. Which makes me wonder how many cars get banged up by another person parking either in front or behind them? As we’re waiting to get into this back parking lot, I am watching a Mini fit snuggly into a spot that I know none of my cars would ever be able to fit into. I made the comment to my friend that if you live in Boston, a Mini is a must have as far as cars are concerned. They are very sporty (Type S at least) compact and the turning radius on that has to be out of this world. Anyways, we pull into the “back lot” and there is an abandoned building with what looks to have sheets where the wide windows once were.

Once we walk around the front I see we are at the “Sowa Open Market” and for you Non-Bostonians it is pretty much a market where venders, artist, and vintage collectors market their goods or products. I’ve heard about these sorts of things but the closest I’ve come is similar to a fair held once a year. Not an every weekend thing, unless you count a Flea-Market, but, this was completely different.

As we walk to the front of the warehouse, there are those white tents I saw earlier, we decide to start there. The first booth we come across is an older guy selling Olive Oil and what looks like Balsamic Vinaigrette. He greats us and asks us if we’d like to go on a journey and explore Italy. I am always up for a creative get away, even if it is only in my mind. Similar to being a kid and having a story read to you. He offers us each a piece of bread and instructs us when it is time to “sample” these amazing oils we are to break off a piece of bread and try it. Simple enough-let the journey begin. He whisks us away to Italy, almost the Southern part, just above Sicily he goes on to tell us about the trees on the hillsides, which are over thousands of years old. There are two types of olives he says, green which are younger and black which have matured. We sample the first oil it was from green olives. We dip the bread into it, it was buttery and sweet.

We venture 700 miles up to another part of Italy where black olives have been used to make this oil we are about to sample. He tells us that this oil has a pepper-like after taste. We break off a piece of bread and dip it into the oil. The texture is the same, not as sweet at first, but after you swallow it, a peppery sensation comes over your mouth. I love pepper, but this caught me off guard, even after I heard his warning.

After tasting both of those, I am a bit torn on which I like better. Might I add before this whole process I didn’t really pay much attention to any sort of olive oil and bought whatever it was from the store. Just as the man stated from the get-go this was a new experience and it would change my outlook and possibly be the best thing I taste all day.

The third oil is a blend of the first and second one, which after tasting was perfect for me. It was sweet as the first without so much of the pepper kick back as the second. Mental note-this is the one for me.

The fourth and fifth are a difference in processing not so much a difference in olives or location. He warned us after I nearly choked on the second, that these two would be very peppery and if I was overwhelmed by the second, I could possibly like the fourth, but the fifth was something to stay away from.

The fourth tasted a lot smoother and less kick back, he was right. The fifth was a little more “spice” but wasn’t too bad, very flavorful.

Next comes the balsamic, I had no idea how this stuff was made or ever paid too much attention to it. I know I liked it. It is made from grapes much like wine is made, the difference is, it is not corked. It has to breathe to let the water evaporate out and they use cheese cloth to cover the barrel to prevent anything from coming into it and ruining it. Just like wine, it is aged in barrels another difference is wine is stored in a cellar to keep it cool where as balsamic is stored in an attack to keep it heated.

There were three balsamic he had for us to try. The first one was the youngest at 3 years. It was tart and a little too bitter for my tastes. The second one is about 5 years old he goes on to say that would be fantastic over meat, fish or vegetables. A few drops over a cooked meal before serving it, not to marinate with, but to serve over a meal. He said it would be the most amazing thing anyone has ever tasted, and you would need a camera to capture their face since it is the greatest taste in the world. I tasted the second, and mind you, he is pouring these into mini shot like cups, it was sweet, smooth and I could only imagine it over a steak. The last one is 8 years old; they all start from the 3 year mark and change barrels at different year marks, using different wood to create a sweeter taste. This one is more a “dessert” type of balsamic, you should only need to put a drop or two on meat, fish, vegetables, ice cream, cheese or he even recommended fresh figs-if you can find them. It was amazing, he was right; it was sweet and perfect for any of those things he mentioned. It fit my taste buds perfectly; this was the balsamic for me.

The prices of the stuff weren’t cheap, but they sold themselves by the taste and his story. The part I loved the most was that he wasn’t pushy, told us where it came from what made it unique and how to serve it on what dishes to bring out the flavor of the oils. The olive oil I wanted was $35 for the bigger bottle ( I have a firm “bigger is better” policy when it comes to things in bottles) and $45. I told the guy I would be back I just didn’t want to carry around those bottles while I shopped around.

The next booth I came across was called “Noisy Bird Studio” it was these little square pendants that have abstract and non-abstract designs on them. The tops are water resistant and the backs are made with some sort of hard cardboard-like material. They’re nicely done, very “chic” I haven’t run across anything like this. When I travel I like to pick up new things, I was looking for a new bracelet along this trip but these will work just fine. They’re $7.95 each and if you buy 3 you get 1 free. I love promotions like that, I browse through her selection and pick up 3, put one back, change designs, commit to 4 and hand them to her to check out, she gives me my total but instead of paying I figured, hey, what is $23 more? 3 of 4 of those were all pink, while I do love me some pink, I wanted a few others to go with different outfits and more colors is always better than fewer right? I pick up 4 more and check out, grand total is $47.70 I opted not to buy the leather necklace, I am sure I have something at home to wear them on.

I am pretty excited at this point to have new necklaces; I walk around the rest of the white tents and come across a mosaic tent. I love mosaic; it’s so beautiful and very expensive. I took a few pictures of them the mirror I liked was $400 whoa! Few more artists filled the next few booths, one with wax things. There was a picture of several butterflies and they were three-dimensional with a light piece of wax over them that moved with a breeze, very creative. I did wonder though, with the heat in Florida in the summer, there is no way a vender like that would make money. Granted this is Boston, I just related it to my life for a moment. I finished the rest of the white-tents and headed toward the warehouse.

As you walk in its more similar to a bazaar type of sale, I ventured from table to table, a lot of antiques, vintage jewelry, pottery, china and other like things. I was still on the quest for a unique bracelet, I tried on a few at random tables but nothing “fit” what I was looking for. One lady had vintage purses, and a lady just before me had bought five or so and was still looking around. I was at the table and these crystal star dangling earrings caught my eye. I think its because my Mom always loved stars long earrings, I find myself buying things she would have enjoyed and it brings a little bit of peace to my heart.

I asked the lady how much the earrings were, they were $10, fine for them I didn’t feel the need to haggle. She also had one of those fender purses made out of license plates. This one was from New York and I know they retail for somewhere around $150-$300 I’ve seen them in stores. I asked how much, she said $100. I told her I would take the earrings, and offered $80 for the purse, she accepted. The purse was new; it has two rhinestones where the purse clasps together at the top, which is my favorite part. Has all of the tags on it and it says New York, which is where we are headed to tomorrow, I found it as the perfect fit for my travels. Like I need a reason to add a purse to my plethora that I have accumulated over the years, but this one is mine now!!

At this point I have reached the end of the Sowa Market and am ready to head out to get some lunch, very ecstatic that my friend has taken me here, it was a great taste of Boston! We head to the Olive Oil guy; pick up the oils we both wanted and asked him where we can find a good Italian place to grab a bite at. He recommends “Monica’s” on the North End, tells us how amazing the food is, decently prices and everything is made from scratch and tells us how to get there. We google it in the car and they open for dinner at 5:30 and average plates are about $25 per person. It’s about 2:30 now so we need to get some food before that.

We head over to the Harbor area; on the way there we pass by Harvard. It was amazing to see it looks old and historic and everything I would think an Ivy League School should look like. The gate that you first see on the corner is beautiful, the cursive “Harvard” lettering is just gorgeous. I didn’t get a chance to take pictures since it was so rainy but it sure was beautiful. We get to the harbor it is starting to rain more now and with the chill off the water it feels a bit colder than before. We park the car in a garage next to the aquarium and head out to snag a snack. There is a dock side sea food joint that looks great to me but it seems to be shut down so that is out. We look at another sea food place right across the street, check the menu and appetizers start at $25. For lunch? Not so much, we head around the corner to what looks to be a bakery type of a place called Sel De La Terre we duck in to avoid the rain and grab a table. The place is set up very quaint, places are set it looks a bit fancy, The hostess tells us they are serving brunch and asks if that will be okay for us, we agree it will be. We look over the menu and I see they have oysters. I love oysters, I order a half dozen since the girl tells me how fresh they are ( I figured I am about 20 feet from the ocean) and how great they taste. I also ordered the Boston Crab Cake Sandwich which comes with rosemary frites (french fries.) The Oysters come out, they look fantastic, the presentation is beautiful, and this is where I remember that I have never had raw oysters, I love oysters but I’ve always ordered them steamed, I’ve never ever thought about having them raw. I am stuck now, I can’t send them back, and I remember hearing that they are a natural aphrodisiac, which I wasn’t looking for either, but again, it crossed my mind as they’re sitting in front of me.

I figured they have to be good if I like them steamed, how much different can they be, right? I take the tiny fork and scoop one up, dip it into the sauce provided and put it in my mouth thinking it will taste pretty similar to what I am used to. I was wrong; it is now a texture thing that I am having an issue with. The flavor from the sauce is amazing; the slimy-slippery-watery feel to them is semi grossing me out. I ordered these and I am going to eat them, I get through about 3, so 3 down, 3 to go. Some of them are less slippery than others, I get to the last one, and I am taking a drink after each one just to clear the slimy feeling. The last one I pick up and its all sorts of watery, go figure, the last one has to be the weirdest one..great. I eat it, no issues; it wasn’t as bad as I though, it was more a texture thing. Shortly after that experience, lunch arrives. The crab cakes are in 2 mini sliders they are stacked pretty tall with tomato and lettuce and a spicy sauce on the bun. I bite into it, and it melts in my mouth, I am now convinced all of the other crab-cakes I have tasted over the years cannot I repeat, cannot hold a torch to this light, flakey, warm, perfectly compiled cake of crab. To top it off there are 2! There is nothing better than having an ecstasy of flavor in your mouth than knowing when you are finished more awaits you. Accompanying these 2 lovely delights of heavenly crab cake sliders are the rosemary frites, they are very thin and crispy the aroma they bring to your senses is amazing, it was light, not greasy and packed with the right amount of seasoning, the proportion of their size is just perfect. I have to say, this is the best lunch I have ever had. After doubting Boston after last night’s pizza disappointment, this is me eating my words, of course in crab-cake fashion. Boston, you do know your food!

While at lunch I was connected to the world, you know, facebook- a friend of mine works in Boston and was posting to me asking me what we’ve seen and done and making suggestions. She suggested the Quincy Market which was just about 2 blocks or so away. The Sowa Market was amazing, this one is all indoors and a “Bostonian” must-do she told me. We head over there; it’s a whole big district of shops and three big buildings, the one in the middle is the Quincy Market, it is filled with food from all over the world. Anything you can imagine having for the most part is there, why didn’t we know about this before lunch? Lunch was very good, so still happy with the choice! When you walk through the Quincy Market you end up at the other end of the building, there is another building about ten feet away with some little shops in it. To the right and to the left of the QM Building there are “North” and “South” buildings they all are store fronts. We shopped mostly the South since the QM has venders inside the outside of the building. (I know that sounds confusing, let me clarify-there is a separate section of the building where venders set up their kiosks that opens to the side of the south building, get it now?)

I love to buy random things, I went into a Christmas store, and I try to make a habbit of adding new ordiments to my tree every year. Typically what happened in the year, places I saw, things I did, hobbies I have ect. I walk into the Christmas store hoping to find something to add to my collection, I saw a Boston ordiment that would be perfect, Says BOSTON in big bold red letters, has a lobster, a shore line and little Red Sox hanging from it. I picked it up and kept looking around, there was this white heart with a dove on it, it was a heart, had a silver sparkle to it and read “” I picked it up in memory of my Mom. Breaks my heart to be without her, but this made my heart smile, just a little bit!

I then saw Urban Outfitters-Which I happen to enjoy quite a bit. They always have very entertaining things to look at. They had a sushi stapler that made me giggle, I get a kick out of their book selection. There was one that said “How to live with having a big penis” I giggled and thought; does that really happen? Do men really have that issue? If so, where does one go about meeting said men? You know.. Market research of course!
I saw the book I’ve been looking for, and by looking for I mean half-assed looking for, of course. It’s called, “Are You There Vodka, It’s Me, Chelsea” By Chelsea Handler. Since I am currently reading her other book, it was the hardback of the book and was $24.95 I didn’t feel like spending that much on it, I figured if it was $14.95 or under I would pick it up. Looks like I will be picking it up on Amazon!

They also had a “Poop Journal” it’s things like this that really do make me go hmmm…who is the person that has to log their bathroom time, and get specific with it? Then I came across a book I couldn’t refuse to buy. “I Can Haz Cheeseburger” if you are not familiar with it, go to the website NOW! http://icanhascheezburger.com/%0d (sidebar) I just went there and busted up laughing so hard I gave myself a headache) I can’t even begin to tell you the countless hours I’ve spent here, mostly on work hours (back in the days of working) and the endless stream of tears that ran down my face while the laughter hit me! Amy and I would email these pictures back and forth to each other several times a day, so you can imagine my excitement to find a book and for only $10! I bought two, it’s not the same unless I can share it with Amy! So excited to give it to her next week when I visit her in Virginia Beach!

I went in and out of shops they even had a “Cheers” bar..you know, where they always know your name? I went in there and they had shot glasses, so in my crazy quest to collect shot glasses from every state, I picked up two. Outside of the Cheers store they had one of those penny machines, I think they’re called “Penny Presses” I got excited (I do this over random shit apparently) I get my 51 cents out, and its broken. Nooooo! I need you to be un-broken penny machine I like to collect pressed pennies from random places when I can find them. Looks like I am out of luck for this one!

I needed to get a Red Sox hoodie. I am a Yankees fan, but I enjoy the BoSox too, I know it’s a total conflict of interest but f it. They’re both amazing teams, have a long history behind them, and there aren’t any other fans as crazy as Yankee or Sox fans. Plus, while in Rome..do as Romans would do! (Rome=Boston in the case) I ended up in a Boston Sports Shop tons of BoSox & Patriots gear. I headed over to the hoodies choices were red or blue, I picked up the classic red with the “Red Sox” lettering on the front and also a red t-shirt, same lettering on the front but on the back it has my favorite players name & number. Jacoby Ellsburry #24 I am so excited at this point to check out, the guy rings me up tells me there is no sales tax…Sweet! Which somehow makes me want to buy more, so I did, I picked up one of those baseball bracelets made out of the lace of the baseball, has a “B” logo on it I almost picked up the one that had Beckett’s Name and Number on it, but the “B” will serve the same purpose. I asked the guy helping me where I could find another penny press, he told me it’s on the other side of the shops, so we walk around, I can’t find it. We ask another guy he tells us walk a little further near a glass building and it should be right there. My friend has the iPhone so he google maps “penny machine” and don’t you know that sucker came up “Penny Press” and directed us in the area it was. I’m not a big fan of the iPhone, I call it the iSuck because my friend always has reception issues, but I am starting to come around to it the more I use it. We head back to get the car out of parking and it was $35 WHAT? I’m sure Bostonians are accustomed to that, but I am not! Holy shit, $35 from 2-24 hours and before that its anywhere from 20-35. I couldn’t believe it! That wraps up our fantastic day of shopping at the QM, take a brief tour of the city on the way out, we drove through China town-which is exactly how it sounds, an entire neighborhood of Chinese-Foo Restaurants and corner stores! It was something to experience!

Head back to the hotel to rescue the dogs and just veg out for a while before we head back downtown to Monica’s for dinner. On the way back, I said “So I was going to get us tickets to the Craig Ferguson show in New York, but they show it in LA once I looked into it” My friend said “What Forbidden Show?” I started cracking up, apparently Craig Ferguson=Forbidden, I tell him again what I said, and bust up laughing. We get back to the hotel, get into the room open the bathroom door and the midgets are so ecstatic to see me, I love that they love me! Again, second day in a row-Bella has pottied in the bath tub, what a good girl! We head out to dinner about 8:45ish, place closes at 10 and it takes about 40 minutes to get down there or so. The damn GPS gets us lost as usual, I’m not sure if its Boston and the way the streets are so close together or if Magellan really just sucks! We make it to the area just after 9:30 and we realize this is “Little Italy” there are a ton of Italian bakeries, gelato places, corner Italian stores, its so unique, just as the rest of Boston the streets are tiny enough to accommodate mini coopers and that is about it. Seems that Monday is trash day, I see bags of trash alongside every store front! No big deal, Boston is a clean town other wise.

We walk into Monica’s and it’s a very intimate setting, “exclusive” if you will. There are maybe 8 tables, it is all brick walls, black and white stenches align the walls, its all low lightning and candle lights adorn the tables. It really is a very warm setting. They had home-made Spanish Sangria; I love Sangria I had to order it. It was very full bodied and had a smooth taste to it from the first sip to the taste it left in my mouth. I ordered a anti-pasta tray with some sort of mozzarella, fresh figs and tomatoes. It was the perfect combination everything tasted amazing. For dinner I ordered the “Sweet Italian Sausage & Muscle Arbiata with Spinach Linguini” It was so juicy, had the right about of spicyness in the sauce and the sweet sausage countered it perfectly.

Everything here is made from scratch, it was so flavorful and delicious. I am not a muscle fan, I’ve never really eaten them, but this dish sounded way too good to pass up, and it was. The muscles were amazing, cooked perfectly and with the Arbiata sauce it just made the meal so delicious. I always drink coke with meals, tonight I was really thirsty, I had about 5, in conjunction with my yummy sangria! The place cleared out about 10pm the few other tables left and it was just my friend and I enjoying the rest of our dinner. It was time for desert, The choices were: bread pudding, flour-less chocolate cake or crème brulee, I heard bread pudding and stopped listening at that point. I had never had bread pudding, and felt adventurist this evening, I ordered that, my friend got the chocolate cake. The pudding came out, like a piece of pie, it had a bit of chocolate in it, which made it extra yummy. I was beside myself, it was delicious, how had I never had this before? I tried a bite of the flour-less chocolate cake, it was very rich, good, but overly rich for my tastes. I finished the yumminess of the bread pudding and our waitress brought our bill, as she set it down, I asked her to add another bread pudding to it. I’m in Boston, I only live once, why not have two desserts? It is THAT good after all! I couldn’t finish the entire second piece, my friend graciously helped me finish the rest. We got the bill it was $104!!! I said “I got it” he did after all pick up the “70” lunch tab, it’s the least I could do, he’s driven me everywhere I wanted to go without a battle! I browse over the bill and 5 cokes = $10 and to boot, they’re out of a can, not even a fountain! The girl ran out on the last one and ran to their store to grab another can. I didn’t know that coke is $2 a can! Regardless, it was worth the money for the food and the amazing experience!!

We walk out and hit up a bakery, not that we’re hungry, just to check out what they have. Italian bakeries are the best, I’ve never seen so many on one street!! They have fresh fruit tarts, which I think are better than sex..good fruit tarts that is. I couldn’t eat any, way to full, and staying in a hotel they’ll never taste as good, I saw they had fresh almond biscotti. I do love biscotti, and its fresh? What is better than that? It is $9 a box and they also have pizzelle waffle cookies that are fresh! I love those too, I bought both for $18( I am very much impulse buyer, I call it the sea-buy approach- I see things I buy them hehe)

We walk out of the bakery and directly across the street there is a post office called “Prince Postale” there is a movie being filmed there, looks low budget. We stand across the street and watch it; there are “extras” outside who are being qued to stand there apparently. In side there is a guy in a white lab coat with a shirt and tie on and that is all you can see since he is behind the counter, there is another guy in there, and that is all I can make out. The guy-I assume who is the director says “Quiet on the set” as soon as he says that, 2 doors down you see a guy pulling out a trash can down the 3 stairs, the moment the words leave the directors mouth the trash can hits the 3 stairs and makes a loud boom noise. The look on the trash-guy’s face is priceless and he says “oops.” That is about the excitement of that we walked back to the car and headed back to the hotel for a nights rest. My friend has to use the restroom on the way home, so we stop at a rest stop since its on the way back. He is driving all crazy through the parking lot, it’s a McDonalds/Gas Station stop. Since he is driving through the parking lot like a mad man I said “They don’t have a drive-thru bathroom” He replied with “I was just going to open my ass…” I busted up laughing so hard, he tried to correct with “..I meant to say I was just going to open my door and run out” through the laughter I said “You sure are going to open your ass” He went inside, no kidding, I laughed the entire time he was gone, I stopped briefly and the second I saw him I started cracking up again!

Looks like another day of traveling tomorrow! Rhode Island, Connenicut & headed into New York! Should have a full day in the city on Tuesday!!
