Or at least it felt that way after staying up till 4 am once again searching for my new toy. I tell you what, looking for a new-used car is hard enough as is, let alone trying to find a built motor major-modified-one!
The search for the Lightning has been in full force in the last week or so I’d say. Feels like forever, slightly dramatic you say? Yes, I’ll give you that, but, I’ve packed a lot of late night searching adventures into this “quest for an L.”
I wasn’t really ready to buy, but, thought I would look around and see what is out there, and if I find something I find something, and if not, I wasn’t in a rush to buy.
I have 3. Yes. THREE cars already. For a single person in a one bedroom apartment that is more than enough! I currently have a car, truck & suv. I pretty much have the bases covered as far as “types” of vehicles to own. Now I would just like to add a “fast” category to that.
I am not one to settle, in anything I do. Lesson learned thanks to a previous relationship. Which I now apply to all of my life. Thank you Stupid for that.
I have my eye on one, built, modded, priced a tad higher than what I wanted to spend, but the negotiation is underway. Close to where I live-8 hours away. Has a great build, proven track times and dyno numbers, previous owner is well known for the truck and the build, motor and everything on it is still strong. Not the color I wanted, but I can move past that. The only stipulation was NO BLACK TRUCKS.
We will see if this truck is “THE” truck in the next few days.

Book-Worm
I love to collect things, and within the last year, it’s been books. They are all very interesting books, or so they’ve lured me into buying them and putting them on my book shelf.
I have finally started to read the books I’ve “collected” there are a TON of them. I figured I might as well start reading since I have the time to do so now. Plus it helps me escape from all of the emotional stress I am under.
I’m reading two books right now; I started reading “My Horizontal Life” By Chelsea Handler, who more famously goes by Chelsea Lately. The book is exactly what it sounds like, a collection of random one night stands. It is very entertaining and makes me laugh, I’ve gotten lost in some of the chapters and just lost track of time. I haven’t finished it yet; I left it in the Mustang about half way through it.
I did however; bring “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell” By Tucker Max. They’re making a movie out of his book, it actually comes out tomorrow. I wanted to read the book before seeing the movie, which, I’ve wanted to do forever, I just get lazy and see the movie first. I like to build up the characters with my own imagination versus portraying what Hollywood has already casted the characters.
Anyways, same type of book, random one-night-stands, drunken adventures and some very detailed and insane stories. I have to wonder now, after these two similar books, are there more like this out in book land that have no crossed my path? I need to look into this.
I seem to buy books in “themes” I went through the single-chick stage of buying (still in the process of reading those, or rather, starting to read those) which is also connected to the dating-type of books, the chicken-soup-for-ANY-soul, the guide-to-anything, the military-stories, photography-how to’s, puppy training and I think there are a few romantic ones in there too. I focused a lot on single girl books, single girl falls in love, single girl has a career, whatever. It applies to my life.
I’m going to TRY to start reading more, getting into the books that caught my attention from the cover! Wish me luck!

Warm & Snuggly!
Warm & Snuggly
I am used to cold weather, and in Florida there isn’t “cold” per say, more like “cooler” weather. I love blankets; I mean I LOVE them mostly throws and the softer the better, obviously.
Since I am visiting Amy in VA Beach this week, we were out shopping at Kohl’s, I needed to spend my ‘Kohl’s Cash” and we walked around and looked at everything deciding what to buy.
We came across these blankets, and there were two of them, on clearance. They are super soft and kitted they’re a mix of grey and black threads. Amy got so excited draped the blanket around here, in effort to “snuggle” it and said “OH MY GOD! I LOOOOVE THESE, So soft! Feel” and as I went to feel it, she turned away and I didn’t get to feel it. Brat! Luckily there was another one that I could feel. She was right, they are awesome.
I had to get them, they were $7.99 and I bought them both, one for her, one for me. I am a good friend! I couldn’t resist the price and then went over to the fleece blankets.
Back in Florida I have a light blue oversized fleece that I love, also bought it at kohl’s back in Denver a few years ago, it’s my favorite. They had a white one with colored poke-a-dots on it! It was cute and not on sale. What the heck, I bought it too!
Since I am here for what we call “recovery time” to recover from the traumatic and tragedies of both of us losing our mothers two weeks apart. We spend a lot of time talking and of course on our blackberries in the same room. We both recline in the recliners with the soft new blankets draped over us and just relax.
It’s been one of the nicest things I’ve had in a while, be it if we’re watching TV, or if I am reading, or us laughing at each other or the kids OR the cats. Sometimes doing nothing and being with a great friend makes life feel a little bit better! We have definitely lived up to our nick names “Pot & Kettle”

Back to my “Home” away from home!
VA Beach baby! Spending a week with Amy (Pot) and the kiddos..and the wild wild kittahs too! Time for “Recovery Time” which is a lot of relaxing, wine, shopping, laughing and crying I’m sure.
Trip got off to a rough start this morning. I like to fly the 7am flights out of Tampa, it’s easy to get in and out of (usually) and there is almost never any traffic, could be because the 7am flights I take are Sundays. Anyways, I dropped the dogs and my truck off at my friend’s house, he took me to the airport, and all was smooth.
I planned on checking ONE bag, carrying on ANOTHER and had a laptop bag and a special bag for Amy with lots of break-ables and sentimental stuff for her birthday/feel better presents (since her mamma passed) Well I curbside check the poke-a-dot bag, its heavy and the guy is right there. Its $22 to check it. He tells me I might need to check one more, I pass.
I get upstairs to get on to the train to go to the terminal. There are two women checking boarding passes, and the one to the right is the one I went to. She tells me I can’t take 3 bags, only 2 on US Airways. I’ve never been told this, well, Uh, aside from what the guy down stairs said, but other than that I haven’t. She told me I had to go check one of them. Ugh, fine. She was shitty about it too. I go back down stairs to check another bag, I decide to check the bag of break-able stuff, the other option was my black Nike gym bag which was packed with 20+ shot glasses for Amy and my new Camera which I won’t let out of my sight.
The lady fights me on what I want to check, and is trying to persuade me to check the Nike bag, I refuse. $30 to check the break-able bag, Whatever, I just want to go, its 6:15 the flight leaves in 45 minutes, I need to go back upstairs.
I decide to go to the one to the left this time, since I am bitter at the lady to the right. Wrong choice! You know how they have the carry on “example” where you theoretically put your bag into the space provided to see if it fits?
I’ve never seen ANYONE have to put their bag in this damn thing…until now. The lady tells me in some sort of broken English to fit my bag into that tiny metal space. Clearly it’s not going to fit. I over packed as usual. My reasoning behind this bag was, I ALWAYS see people with huge duffle bags as carry ons. Well I have to try, it sits on top of the “allotted” space just fine, and then she’s trying to get me to take things out. Which isn’t going to work, I don’t have any space to put it. I have a laptop bag with me, which is full of 2 laptops; there isn’t any room in there as is. So, I try to take out the Camera and the camera bag since it’s bulky. Fail. Now I have 3 bags and I can fit the Nike bag which is good, but I made another bag by pulling out the camera bag and the lady is telling me that won’t work, I GET THAT! I keep trying to get her to let me go and I will adjust it at the gate, somehow. She says no, I’m angry at this point.
After what felt like forever, I assume it’s been less than five minutes; she looks at my boarding pass again, and tells me to go to the gate.
Security takes a little bit to go through since people can’t pull their laptops out and put their shoes back on and get out of the way, typical!
I get to the gate just as the last few people are boarding, Great. I see a guy with a bigger bag than mine to the right of me since there are two people checking in, his bag got pulled and has to be gate checked, so I tuck mine off to the side, go to the gal to the left hoping to sneak by with my bag. She takes my ticket, gives it back and I walk through the doors to get started down to the plane. I exhaled shew! I won.
Then she must have looked back after I passed through, She told me to come back I had to check that, it’s too big, I was upset, here we go again, Not only do I have to check bag THREE but now I don’t have time to repack it. She fills out the ticket since I have a plane change in Charlotte; I grab the camera and bag out of it, and let them take it. Ugh, I was ALMOST there!!
The good news is, I didn’t have to pay for that bag.
Oh well, on the plane, time to start reading the new book “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell”

Tidy!
With my random adventures and traveling all over the place, I have neglected my apartment. I still haven’t unpacked everything my dining room is now my “storage” for the bins I haven’t unpacked, my hood, seats and TV box among other random things.
I always want to have a clean apartment when I leave, so when I come home completely exhausted I don’t have to put anything away aside from the bags I’ve brought on a trip with me.
This is one of those times it would be nice to have a man to do those chores for me, you know clean the kitchen, do the laundry, make the bed…wait. No man does any of that! Who am I kidding? Hahah!
Well since I am leaving bright and early in the morning, I need to head out of here by 5 am I decided to tackle the apartment, catch up on laundry and get my room in order, atleast put away all my clothes, I will deal with the stuff on top of my dresser when I return.
What a task, I cleaned and cleaned, and did load after load of laundry and still have a few loads of towells and sheets to do when I get home….but I did it.
Hell I even plan on making my bed in the morning so when I come home its all ready for me to jump in and relax!
I can’t believe I was able to pack, clean and get the dogs ready to go I’m very pleased with my self!!

Shadow Has a Garage!!
It’s been a long time since she has had a garage and the parking situation at my apartment complex is a little touchy. You can only have 2 cars in a one-bedroom; you get one “pass” per vehicle, up to two. You are required to have a pass to enter the complex if you don’t you have to give the guard all of the info: who you’re going to see, their address, who you are, ect. It is annoying to have to stop and say “I live here” 3 times a day. Typically it’s the night guard who’s on top of it; people come in and out during the daytime hours.
Shadow and Jayde (Mustang&F-150) have stickers, while the Lexus does not. I choose to daily drive the Lexus, its comfortable. I always parked it in front of my building in a row with the other two cars. I got a letter on it with a “complaint” that it didn’t have a sticker and had to park in guest parking, which is a block and a half away by the tennis courts. I parked it there on the 24th of August, the day before I left for Colorado. I haven’t touched it since I left! I decided now that I never seem to be home, I want my car to be safe at my complex. Not that it already isn’t, I just want more security for my piece of mind and I hate having to leave it at my friend’s house all the time when I go out of town. I decided to get a garage.
Its $80 a month for a garage, of course the garage isn’t really close to my apartment, it’s just about the middle of the complex and I live on the end. Whatever, if I decide later on I don’t want it, I’m not committed to it. I could always do a carport for $20, but that doesn’t make me feel “secure” and I get more storage space for random car parts I have.
So, now that I have a garage, I get to have another pass, I registered the Lexus with the office and I was excited. FINALLY! I went back to the tennis court to get the Lexus and park it by the truck, I get in, turn the key and it turns over but won’t crank. Damnit. I called the office; they don’t have anyone that offers jump-starts, go figure.
Let my friend know about it since I was headed to his house later on for dinner, he has roadside assistance on his phone and just has to be there, so we planned after the movie we were going to he’d come over and we’d call. No problem.
I hoped it was the battery and no the alternator or something else. It had to be the battery it sat for a month straight.
We went to the movies to see Surrogates. Pretty good flick, Weird concept I give it a B, I was entertained! Then we went to get ice cream at Cold Stone since its right there. I LOVE Cold Stone, it’s a newly acquired love. I always get the “banana caramel crunch” which is French vanilla ice cream, bananas, caramel sauce, chopped almonds, I then add in more banana, caramel, white chocolate chips and chocolate shavings. It is heavenly! I like to get the “ours” so I can enjoy it for a while. The gal was making mine and there were three cops standing by the registers talking to one another and talking to one of the young girls that work there. Of course I checked them out when I got in the door. I heart men in uniforms. The one talking to the teen girl was tall, fit, bald and sexy; I looked over a few times, made a few comments to my friend. The girl is mixing my ice cream and I look over at the sexy man-cop and his jaw drops and he looks at me and I said “are you making fun of my ice cream” he was very coy and said “No, No, I didn’t realize it was to go, I was about to say, whoa, I’ve never seen one that big who can eat that? I didn’t realize it was one to go” I gave him a hard time back about Lakeland cops not being friendly and hassling me about my ice cream to-go. He was flirty back, and again, VERY sexy!! But he was talking to the teen, who worked there, and he clearly looked to be early 30’s and I was with a male friend. It was a fun flirty experience. Anyways, we then called roadside assistance and headed back to my apartment. Played Wii while we waited and then the guy came.
Jump started the Lexus, it died. Ugh! Did it again, it stuttered, and then started to run just fine, let it run for a good while, bs’d with the tow truck driver, turns out he has a mustang. Small world right? He’s from Jersey, lives in Plant City, tells me I need to check out the Strawberry Festival in March and we talk for another hour while we turn the car on and off to make sure its holding a charge.
I came back to my apartment, played more Wii. Whooped my friends ass in everything we played because I am awesome (note, in the 2 years I’ve had my Wii I’ve played it less than 5 times)
Put Shadow in her new home around the corner in the garage, and called it a night! Lots to do tomorrow to get ready for the trip to see Amy!

Over Traveled?
I think I might have “travel exhaustion” is that possible? Let me run you through the last few weeks of my life to lead me to this conclusion.
I was in Denver for 3 weeks, drove there and back, 3000+ miles total and over 55 hours of drive time involved. I was home for 6 days and then hopped back into a car for another 3700 miles trip to the North-East (previous blogs) I am home for two days and headed out to Virginia beach on Sunday morning via plane-thank goodness.
I came down with a head cold the night before we took off for the New York adventure. I think it was my body trying to tell me to slow down. I didn’t heed the warning! Spent the first four or so days on cold medicine and using vicks puff tissues like they were going out of style. For the record, those things frikken ROCK! Best tissue EVER to use when you’re sick. They’re like.. magic tissues. Even got my travel buddy hooked on them!
I’m feeling a lot better now, and hoping that it stays that way. I travel too much to be sick! Lots of places to see and people to visit!
